Keep Pedestrians Safe this Holiday

Help us keep Baltimore County pedestrians safe this holiday season!

Did you know that almost every day a pedestrian is struck in Baltimore County, and that December evenings tend to be a peak time for these tragic incidents? Most often these crashes are actually caused by pedestrians of all ages, not the drivers. We in County government are very concerned about this trend and are asking you and your organization to help us with a social media outreach campaign this week.

Would you please share our “Heads Up! WalkSafe” Facebook and Twitter posts? We want to get these important safety messages out broadly to help everyone stay safe in the hustle and bustle of the holiday season. You will find our posts on our Twitter @BaltCoGov and on Facebook @BaltCoGov pages. We are targeting the timeframe of Friday, December 9 through Sunday, December 18. Please post multiple times during this period to help communicate these important safety messages.

Annual Business Gala is Around the Corner!

Friday, November 11th will be the Annual Business Gala. Every member should be receiving their voting package in the mail please complete and returned before 10-18-2016. This event will be held at Martin’s East 9000 Pulaski Highway. Tickets are $60 each if you purchase prior to 10/28/2016. We are looking for Business Sponsors for this event.

Volunteer Ambassadors Committee

The Dundalk Chamber would like to introduce a volunteer committee to the schools whose students are looking for Community Service.  The Community always needs volunteers to make things happen.  Therefore we also know that it is a requirement for the students to accomplish their Community Service.  Therefore the Dundalk Chamber has a few volunteer offerings that we would like to offer the students.

  1. Cleaning Main Street – We have an abundance of trash on Main Street and unfortunately we would like for Main Street to attract people to visit our Businesses in the Community. Therefore we are looking for volunteers to help sweep, pick up trash and empty overflowing trash cans.  All of the supplies will be supplied to the volunteer.  If the students could volunteer 2 days a week for a few hours we would greatly appreciate.
  2. Loading Donations – The Dundalk Chamber has many donation drives that we collect and donations for. Since we have moved the donations needs to be loaded to the truck.  We have a clothing drive coming up on November 29th from 9-12pm and will need some students to assist with loading the truck.
  3. Food Drive – We again will need help with assisting the loading of non-perishable donations to the truck. This will occur Monday, November 14th & December 12th.
  4. Events Ambassadors – Volunteers to assist at our business networking events throughout the year, registrations, walking people to the tables, greeting. The requirements for this would be Business Casual.  This would help the students to get involved and get to know Business Owners in the Community.

Press Release – Dundalk Chamber’s Business Gala

The Dundalk Chamber of Commerce Recognizes the Achievements of our Business Members in the community.  We are accepting nominations for our 2016 Business Award Gala.  We are accepting the nominations until 10/18/2016.  Please nominate a deserving Chamber Business or Organization for the Annual Business Awards.  All Chamber members can be identified on our Website at www.dundalkchamber.com. When nominating we ask you to include a brief statement of why that member qualifies in one of the following categories.  Nominations should be emailed to the Chamber at Cathy@dundalkchamberofcommerce.org or mailed to the Dundalk Chamber’s office at 2 Dunmanway Suite 223, Dundalk, MD  21222. Please return on or before 10/18/2016 to the attention of the Awards Nominating Committee.

Dundalk Chamber of Commerce is hosting its Annual Business Gala at Martin’s East, 9000 Pulaski Highway from 6-10pm for Appetizers and Dinner, Black Tie Optional.

Business Awards for 2016 Dundalk Chamber Gala

  • Community Impact Award- recognizes an organization for initiatives that have positively impacted the community and generated outcomes that have had a long term benefit.
  • New Business Award- any new business (Chamber member) that has been opened over the last 24 months is eligible for this award. Judging for this award is based on the potential community impact, use of technology and overall community awareness.
  • Young Entrepreneur Award- recognizes an inspirational young person between the ages of 18-35 who, through their own commitment and passion, has built and operated a successful business in the Dundalk area.
  • Global Impact Award- recognizes a global business that has improved the economy and community conditions, by employing large amount of residents.
  • President Award –The President of the Chamber will make the selection for the President award.

 

Dundalk Police Precinct and Fire Stations will also be awarded.
